Hello guys! Today in this post I’m going to show you how to download and install NHM Writer, which is not directly compatible with Windows 10.
A lot of people try to install it and it just doesn’t work — so I’m going to show you the right way to do it step by step.

Overview of NHM Writer Software

NHM Writer is a free typing tool that helps you type in Indian languages. You can use it for Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and many more.
I personally use it to type in Tamil, because that’s my native language. It’s a small and simple tool, but really useful if you often type in your own language. Read more about nhm writer software

Step by Step guides to Download and install NHM Writer Software

To Download and install NHM Writer Software, follow below steps which are:

How to Download and Install NHM Writer Software

Step 1 – Download NHM Writer

First of all, go to the official NHM Writer website. That’s where you’ll get the real tool safely — don’t download it from random sites.
Once you download the setup file, don’t install it immediately. There’s one small but very important thing you have to do first.

Step 2 – Run Troubleshoot Compatibility

If you just double-click and install it straight away, it won’t work properly on Windows 10.
So what you have to do is:

  • Right-click on the NHM Writer setup file.
  • Click on Troubleshoot compatibility.
  • Wait a few seconds while Windows checks for problems.
  • Then click Try recommended settings.
  • Click Test the program.

This step is really important. If you skip this, the tool simply won’t work. So make sure to do this every time you install NHM Writer on Windows 10.

Step 3 – Install the Tool

Once the setup opens, it’s easy from here:

  • Click Next.
  • Accept the license agreement.
  • Then choose your language. I select Tamil, because that’s the one I use.
  • Click Install and wait for it to finish.
  • After it’s done, you’ll get a message saying the program is installed. Then click Finish. Windows will also ask if you want to save the compatibility settings — just click Yes and close the window.

Step 4 – Open NHM Writer

Now let’s check if it’s working. Go to your Windows search bar and type NHM Writer. You’ll see the app appear — click on it to open. If it doesn’t open automatically, don’t worry — sometimes it stays hidden in the background. Just open it again from the search.

Step 5 – Start Typing

When NHM Writer is opened, you will see its tiny icon on your taskbar.

Click it and choose your preferred typing method. I generally select Tamil Phonetic.
Now open either Notepad or Word, and start typing with English letters. NHM Writer will change them into Tamil (or whatever language you selected) automatically.
Pretty cool, right?

Final Thoughts

The main thing to remember is the Troubleshoot Compatibility step — without that, it won’t work at all. After doing this once, you can use NHM Writer anytime to type in your language smoothly.
